Todd (9) & Tucker (8)

Spotted Draft Horse × Quarter Horse Cross | Full Brothers | 16 Hands

Todd and Tucker are a once-in-a-lifetime dynamic duo—horses you simply do not come across every day. These full brothers are Spotted Draft Horse and Quarter Horse crossbreds, combining the very best qualities of both breeds into two truly exceptional animals.

They were raised by trusted Amish horsemen and have spent their lives working, learning, and excelling in nearly every discipline imaginable. We purchased them a year and a half ago, and they have proven to be the best team of horses we have ever owned.

Safe, sound, experienced, and incredibly kind, Todd and Tucker possess a calm, willing-to-please attitude that makes them suitable for riders and drivers of all experience levels.

Conformation & Build

Standing a solid 16 hands, both horses are thick-made with excellent bone, big feet, and strong, balanced conformation. Their size, build, color, and gentle nature reflect their draft heritage, while their agility, intelligence, and versatility come from their Quarter Horse influence.

Ground Manners

On the ground, Todd and Tucker are complete gentlemen. Our 8-year-old daughter can confidently handle either horse—or both together—with ease. They respect personal space, stand tied patiently, and stand quietly in the wagon. With extensive liberty training, they will even follow you at the command to “come.”

Under Saddle

These boys are a dream to ride:

  • One-hand neck rein
  • Smooth one-step lope
  • Big stop and soft backup
  • Turn and circle like a seasoned Quarter Horse
  • Correct leads both directions
  • Responsive to leg pressure

They are fully experienced in both indoor and outdoor arenas.

Trail Experience

Todd and Tucker have been trail-ridden for countless miles and across all types of terrain. Mud, rocks, steep hills, deep water—nothing phases them. They are safe, sure-footed, and confident, making them perfect family trail horses.

Driving Excellence

These horses truly shine as a driving team. They have logged more miles than we can count and know their job inside and out. They are traffic-safe and have been driven:

  • On roads and into town
  • Through cattle farms
  • In parades
  • In a live drive-thru nativity scene giving wagon rides

From small children to elderly adults, Todd and Tucker have safely and reliably carried passengers. They are classy, elegant movers and turn heads everywhere they go.

Tricks & Training

Both horses are trained trick horses and can:

  • Lay down
  • Sit up
  • Side-pass to a mounting block or object

They are highly intelligent and eager learners.

Ranch & Farm Work

Todd and Tucker have been invaluable on the ranch:

  • Roping and sorting cattle
  • Checking fences daily
  • Opening and closing gates
  • Dragging equipment
  • Large-scale cattle roundups (300+ head over multiple days)

They are comfortable around farm equipment and have even been driven by young children under supervision.

Bombproof & Easy to Handle

These horses are:

  • Desensitized to tarps, whips, and gunfire
  • Excellent loaders and travelers
  • Easy to bathe
  • Stand quietly for the farrier
  • Friendly with people, pets, and livestock

They are easy to catch and will come when called. They do well stalled or turned out and thrive in any environment.

Personality

Todd is laid-back.

Tucker is super laid-back.

That is truly the biggest difference between them. Both are gentle, honest, and incredibly dependable. Even our daughter has jumped them for fun.
