Manchester United Recall Ethan Wheatley and Emma Watson From Loan Spells

Manchester United have recalled two more players from their respective loan spells as the January transfer window continues.

In a statement released on the club’s official website on Monday, the Red Devils confirmed that 19-year-old forward Ethan Wheatley has returned to Carrington from his loan spell at Northampton Town. Wheatley, who also spent time on loan at Walsall last season, becomes the fourth young Manchester United player to be recalled since the January window opened.

The decision suggests the club is reassessing its squad options midway through the season, with several academy prospects now back under first-team supervision.

In a separate announcement, Manchester United also confirmed the recall of midfielder Emma Watson from her season-long loan with Crystal Palace Women. Watson joined the Eagles last August and went on to make six appearances for the London club, who currently sit sixth in the Women’s Super League 2 standings.

The dual recalls come less than a week after fellow youngsters Sonny Aljofree and Louis Jackson were also brought back to Manchester United, highlighting an active January period for the club as they manage player development and squad depth across both the men’s and women’s teams.

United are expected to make further decisions regarding loans and transfers as the window progresses, with player development and competitive balance remaining key priorities.
