Mbappé Reacts to Xabi Alonso’s Departure From Real Madrid
Real Madrid forward Kylian Mbappé has reacted to the club’s decision to part ways with head coach Xabi Alonso, following the announcement made on Monday.
Taking to social media, Mbappé expressed his appreciation for the former manager, describing his brief time under Alonso as “a pleasure” and thanking him for the trust and confidence shown since his arrival at the club.
“It’s been short but it was a pleasure to play for you and learn from you. Thank you for giving me the confidence since Day 1,” Mbappé said.
“I will remember you as a manager who had clear ideas and knows many things about football. Best of luck for your next chapter.”
Alonso joined Real Madrid from Bundesliga side Bayer Leverkusen just seven months ago, arriving with high expectations after his impressive managerial spell in Germany. However, his time at the Santiago Bernabéu proved to be brief, as a run of inconsistent results and internal dressing-room tensions reportedly contributed to his exit.
Despite flashes of tactical promise, Real Madrid struggled to meet expectations under Alonso, both domestically and in European competitions. The pressure intensified following recent setbacks, ultimately leading the club’s hierarchy to make a swift decision regarding his future.
Mbappé’s message highlights the respect Alonso earned from key players during his short tenure, even as the club moves quickly to stabilize the team and refocus on the remainder of the season.
